Compress Embedded Images First
Large embedded images are usually the biggest contributor to PDF file size. Downscaling images to the resolution they're actually displayed at, before exporting, often cuts file size dramatically with no visible quality loss.
Flatten Forms Before Sharing
If a PDF started life as a fillable form, flattening it once it's complete locks the values in place and prevents accidental edits when the document is shared or archived.
Test Across Viewers
A PDF that renders correctly in one viewer can display differently in another, especially for embedded fonts and vector graphics. Spot-check important documents in more than one viewer before sending them out.
